2003 Season Results

May 26th. Our Burlington Boys Field teams proved they are among the best in Ontario at the Provincials played on May 25th. This brings a successful close to another fun-filled season.

Novice C Gold Medal Winners

Novice - Gold Medal - C Division

The team arrived at the Civic Fields in Oshawa in pouring rain to find the fields wet and muddy. After warming up in the rain, the weather subsided for the start of the game. Burlington took control of the game and defeated West Durham 7-2 to advance to the Gold medal game in the afternoon.

Burlington opened the Gold medal game strong and took an early lead on Guelph. But Guelph stormed back early in the second quarter with a couple of quick goals to tie the game. The rest of the game was a closely fought contest that kept the outcome in doubt right to the final second. But Burlington managed to regain and maintain their lead to defeat Guelph 7-6 and win the Gold medal.

Peewee A Bronze Medal Winners

Peewee - Bronze Medal - A Division

The team started the day with a hard fought 5-3 loss to the eventual champions, Oshawa, in the mud and ankle deep water at the Civic Fields in Oshawa.

In the afternoon, Burlington defeated Caledonia 9 - 6 to win the Bronze medal game. It took a little time for the players to get into the game after the disappointing loss in the morning. However, after falling behind 2-0 early in the game, the players' competitive spirit returned and they controlled the remainder of the contest.

This season and the Provincials were a good learning experience for the players who now realize they can play with, and are respected by, the best teams in the province. Good "team play", on both offense and defense, carried the team throughout this successful season.
