Game Day Tips for Field Lacrosse

  • Check that everything is in the equipment bag before you leave the house. Cleats are highly recommended especially on wet days.
*** MOUTH GUARDS are mandatory for Boy's Field Lacrosse ***
  • Please bring water bottles and enough water for the duration of the day. Clearly label the bottle with the player's name on it.
  • Be prepared for all types of weather conditions (hot, cold, wet or dry). My son sometimes wears a windbreaker under his jersey when it is very cold, wet and windy. Bring extra clothing (socks, shorts, underwear, t-shirts, raincoats, etc).  The team will be playing at least 2 games in one day and there is a strong chance that the fields will be very wet and muddy.  It is especially important to have dry clothes to change into after each game if the field is wet.
  • Green garbage bags come in really handy ... can be used to line the trunk, car floor or back seat if the players are muddy, and they can even be used as a raincoat if necessary.
  • Please arrive fully dressed 30 minutes prior to the start of each game.
  • Bring foldable chairs to sit on. Many of the fields do not have any stands.
  • Parents and all other observers must sit on the opposite side of the field from the players.
  • Portable washrooms are usually provided at most fields but not always guaranteed.  (There always seems to be a shortage of toilet paper.)
  • Pack healthy and nutritious snacks and food for the players to eat between games (e.g. fruits, yogurt, cheese & crackers, muffins, bagels, etc). There might not be enough time between games to go to a restaurant.
  • Make sure the players drink a lot of water the day before and prior to the games to ensure proper hydration.
